Data Collection
Karelia Script is designed with privacy at its core. We collect minimal data and only what is necessary for the app to function.
What We Collect
None. Karelia Script does not collect any personal data, analytics, or usage statistics.
What Stays on Your Device
- Audio recordings — stored locally. Never uploaded unless you explicitly share them.
- Transcriptions — processed on-device using Apple's on-device speech recognition.
- Transcript text, tags, settings — stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework.
What Leaves Your Device
- AI Summaries — when you tap "Summarize", the transcript text is sent to Karelia AI over HTTPS. Not stored after processing.
- Custom API Endpoints — if you configure your own API key, text is sent to your chosen endpoint.
Third-Party Services
- Apple Speech Recognition — on-device. No data leaves your device.
- Karelia AI — self-hosted. No data is logged or stored.
- OpenAI (optional) — only if you provide your own API key.
Data Retention
- All data remains on your device until you delete it.
- No data is retained by Karelia AI after summaries are generated.
- You can delete all app data at any time by deleting the app.
Children's Privacy
Karelia Script does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy. Changes will be posted at kareliaflow.com/privacy.
